Black swans are iconic to Western Australia, dwelling on the Derbal Yerigan
To me I grew up with these birds in my local environment and they embody an ancient story - they feel something other wordly. Black and Red and White and big and bold and beautiful. Living between all the elements, earth water and sky- their colours make them feel like a phoenix but with more Grace- reminding us that it is with Grace we are reborn over and over in this life- rising from the ashes time and time again. The snake like neck of the black swan are a living embodiment of the creative force we credit to the serpent energy- in Nyoongar language the rainbow serpent is called the Waugul and lives in the waterways of the Derbal Yerrigan as does the black swan- so to me i feel there must hold a connection - the swn is the living embodiement of this potent energy and a reminder of her strength and beauty.
